Prom nights are memorable occasions. As a senior student, you get to bid farewell to high school and prepare for another important adulthood stage. As is customary, you are thinking of how to dress in a tuxedo, have a date to accompany you and hire a chauffeured limousine for the night. No teenager would miss this dance for anything. Every adult who went to high school, your mum and dad included, has a fond memory of their prom night. This is the time when no parent will scold you for coming home drunk. It is for this reason that you wouldn’t wish to ruin the most important dance in your teenage life.
Here’s what to consider when planning for prom:
Book a limo in advance
In most cases, teenagers going for prom choose to travel in style by hiring limousines. You should be aware that you are not the only one in need of this service. In order to avoid last minute rushes and disappointments, book for your limo in advance. High school proms are scheduled to take place on the same day which is usually on a weekend. What this means is that you will be competing for the service with other students. As such, you have to move with speed and secure your limo long before fellow students from your school and neighboring ones beat you to it.
Find your date
Prom is not complete without a date to be by your side all night. You should find one several months in advance. If you have a steady boyfriend or girlfriend, this may not be a problem. In case you don’t have one, it is time you embarked on a search. There is this guy that you have been having a crush on. Drop a hint that you would like him to be your date. The same case applies for boys. Girls love it when you approach them and act like you are courting. Ask for your favorite girl’s permission and do so gently. You should have a prom date at least four months prior.
Buy or hire your prom dress
No one wants to look clumsy on such an important event. Remember, prom comes only once in your life. Start shopping early for a tuxedo and an appropriate pair of shoes. As a young girl, you will be the centre of attraction throughout the night. Shop around for an affordable dress that you find appropriate for prom. Decide on a theme and you will find the dress for it. Buy accessories too. You could ask your parents to lend you some money or top up on the savings you have accumulated. Prom dress hire is also an option.
Prom events are expensive; you need to start saving way in advance. Do a couple of odd jobs and keep the money somewhere safe.
